The following information reflects portions of the 2023 Annual Report. The Brookville Fire Department responds to approximately 36 square miles, for a total population of an estimated 11,353 citizens. We handled 1,648 EMS and 378 non-EMS incidents in 2023. This total of 2,026 incidents for the department, reflects a 5% increase in EMS responses and an 8% increase in non-EMS calls when compared to the average of the past 10 years.

Fire-related incidents (actually a fire) included 60 fires in buildings. BFD also assisted in 4 severe weather responses. 

Dollar loss due to fire had been on a downward trend for several years. This would have been the case in 2023 were it not for a large-loss commercial fire at Keller Feed and Grain Company. A fire in a large grain drying unit caused more than $200,000 in damages. Minus that loss, other loss the remainder of the year was consistent with the past several years.
